Workers' Compensation for farmers

Think Workers' Compensation insurance doesn't apply to you? Did you know, most insurance policies exclude the "treatment, services and supplies for any injuries and illnesses covered by Workers' Compensation." It's a legal requirement for farmers who employ six or more persons on any 20 consecutive or non-consecutive days during a calendar year. It's also recommended for any farmer who relies on family members and/or hired labor.

For employees

Covers employees who have sustained injuries or illnesses related to employment, including:

  • Coverage for all reasonable and necessary medical costs
  • Payments for temporary loss of wages
  • Payments for permanent loss of earning capacity

For employers

Restricts injured employees or their family members from suing the employer due to injuries sustained at work. Our policy also incorporates employer's liability insurance to cover work-related injuries not covered under Workers' Compensation.

Dividend plans

Depending upon certain conditions, your business may be eligible for flat or variable dividend plans. Eligibility requirements include review of:

  • Premium threshold
  • Three-year loss ratio
  • Exposure severity
  • Experience modification factor
  • Active safety program participation
  • Verification of premium and loss report from prior carrier, if required

Workers' compensation claim service

Our claims adjusters are highly experienced in managing the claims process, keeping you well-informed throughout the process. Typically, they save you about 26 percent in medical costs by carefully:

  • Investigating claims for coverage
  • Determining compensability
  • Effectively managing the disability and medical treatment

Group health & disability

Your business can recruit and keep quality employees with a competitive benefit plan. Group health and disability is available for most businesses—from small groups to larger corporations. Ask your agent for more information.

Business Overhead Expense

Keep the business running if you become disabled. A monthly check helps pay your business overhead expenses during this uncertain time.
